Mr. Lewen Zheng, a PhD student from Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management under the supervision of Prof. Dohyun Ahn, won the INFORMS-Sim Best Student Paper Award at the 2023 Winter Simulation Conference, held from 10 - 13 December 2023, in San Antonio, TX, USA. The awarded paper is titled “Conditional Importance Sampling for Convex Rare-Event Sets.”

The INFORMS Simulation Society (INFORMS-Sim) sponsors the Winter Simulation Conference PhD Colloquium for PhD students within two years of graduation and awards a Best Student Paper prize among those students making a presentation at both the PhD colloquium and a regular track of the conference.
