CUHK Programming team achieves 1 Gold Medal and 2 Silver Medals in the 2024 ICPC Asia East Continent Final Contest

 

The programming team from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong has achieved 1 gold medal and 2 silver medals in the 2024 ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) Asia East Continent Final Contest held in Xi’an.

Gold medal team: Hsieh Chong Ho (CSCI Year 2), Lung Sui Hei (CSCI Year 3), Wong Chun (CSE Year 1)

Silver medal teams: Chau Lai Yin (AIST Year 3), Jiang Xuancheng (CSCI Year 2), Wong Tsz Him (CSCI Year 3); Poonyapat Sriroth (CSCI Year 2), Wong Man Lai Angus (CSCI Year 2), Zhang Tianhan (CSCI Year 3)

Established in 1970, the ICPC is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world. Every year, over 50,000 students from more than 3,000 universities in 111 countries participate in the competition. The ICPC Asia East Continent Final Contest is the regional final for universities in the Asia East region. To qualify, teams must first achieve strong standings in the regular regional contests. This year, the CUHK programming team has a total of five teams qualifying for the final contest, setting a new record for the highest number of qualified teams from Hong Kong.
