New Directions for CUHK Public Health and Primary Care

Given the recent establishment of the School of Public Health and Primary Care (SPHPC), a media gathering was held at KCT Communications and Resource Centre, School of Public Health at Prince of Wales Hospital on 28 August 2009. Panels included: Professor Tai Fai FOK, Dean of Faculty of Medicine; Professor Sian GRIFFITHS, Director of School of Public Health and Primary Care; Professor Samuel WONG, Assistant Director of School of Public Health and Primary Care; Professor Emily CHAN, Assistant Professor of School of Public Health and Primary Care and Professor Josette CHOR, Assistant Professor of School of Public Health and Primary Care.

The School of Public Health and Primary Care shares the vision with the University in the pursuit for excellence in teaching, research and services. Panels presented the development highlights at the gathering on teaching with an emphasis on the newly launched BSc in Public Health Programme, as well as some recent research highlights including Primary Health Care, Humanitarian Initiative and Infectious Diseases on H1N1.

The new school will continue to work closely in collaboration with partners from all relevant disciplines and institutions, and Director emphasised the school's continual mission to create opportunities for cultivating more public health and primary care professionals that will make a difference in the health of populations.
