The College is committed to providing opportunities for students to get prepared for the workplace. To this end, the Internship Scheme was successfully launched in 2014, and continues to benefit students in summer 2015. Over 28 summer internship opportunities exclusive for students of the College were sourced from 15 organizations across various sectors, such as administration, finance, marketing, media, product development, research and development, sales and sourcing, and social services. At least 13 students so far have been selected as interns after interviews by the companies concerned. The College hopes that these internships should offer students across different years and from different disciplines a broadening experience and community engagement.
Workshop on Getting Ready for the Workplace To complement the College Internship Scheme, the College organized a Workshop on Getting Ready for the Workplace on 8 May 2015 to prompt students to start thinking early about life after graduation. The College is honoured to have three experienced speakers providing information and advice from different angles. Miss Jessica Tse, Manager of the Career Planning and Development Centre, Office of Student Affairs, talked about career planning and pointed students to resources available. Mr Wilfred KP Wong, Founder and Director of RESOLUTIONS HR & Business Consultancy Company Limited, spoke on employers' expectations on new hires. Mr Leung Cheuk Yan, Director of Bank of China and a former senior partner of Baker & McKenzie, shared insights into the importance of planning ahead and 'getting it right from day one'. In addition, Miss Gu Mingyu, a Year 3 College student, shared her internship experience from last year, encouraging students to adapt to the working environment. Participants responded positively to the workshop. They received useful advice from the speakers' sharing on job-hunting and interviewing skills, and realized the importance and need for strategic planning for their careers.
