The Chinese University of Hong Kong – Peking University (PKU) – University System of Taiwan (UST) Joint Research Centre for Language and Human ComplexityThe inauguration ceremony of the Joint Research Centre was held on 8 December 2013 at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)

The Joint Center aims to foster cross-strait academic exchange and develop collaborative research programmes in the areas of language and human complexity. As a new platform of collaboration, the centre is the first cross-strait joint research centre to examine human complexity from the perspective of language.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong-Utrecht University Joint Centre for Language, Mind and BrainThe signing of the MOU for the establishment of "The Chinese University of Hong Kong-Utrecht University Joint Centre for Language, Mind, and Brain" was conducted on 3 December 2013

The Joint Centre aims to pursue three parallel focus areas of research, namely (1)the biological basis of language learning and development, (2)cognitive neuroscience and (3)speech-language therapy. The Joint Centre represents an innovative effort to synergize and combine the strengths in the named areas on CUHK and UU campuses. In collaboration with the School of Biomedical Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine at CUHK, the Centre supports cross-faculty and interdisciplinary collaboration in genetic research related to language, mind and brain.

Professor Wong Man Chun Patrick (Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages) is the Director of the Joint Centre.

Research Centre for Comparative Japanese Studies

The centre aims to promote inter-disciplinary and comparative studies of Japan in regional (in relation to other Asian societies) and global perspective; and to facilitate exchange and communications with other top-tier Japan research institutes.

Professor Ng Wai Ming and Professor Lynne Nakano of the Department of Japanese Studies will be the Centre Director and the Deputy Director respectively.
