Over 160 graduates attended the Graduation Ceremony of the Education for the Elderly Course Series (Cycle 7) held at the Shaw College Lecture Theatre, CUHK on 8 January. The Programme was jointly organised by the School and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong (ELCHK). Dr. Rebecca Lee, President of the Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology, Mr. Lui Hing-chung, Chairman of the Elderly Service Management Committee of ELCHK, and Dr. Ella P.O. Chan, Director of the School, officiated at the Ceremony.
Having enrolled in the course series for six years, Mr. Li Ping-sum and Mr. Dominic T.W. Yip are best examples of lifelong learners. After retiring from the Information Services Department, Mr. Li continued his voluntary services as well as lifelong learning. "I hope third-age people can take their first step to lifelong learning. You can then experience the enjoyment and fulfillment that it brings," Mr. Li said. Mr. Yip encourages his friends to enroll in the programme, he said, "Lifelong learning not only enriches one's daily experience, e.g. observing birds and photo shooting, but also broadens one's social network." CUSCS will continue to offer this programme with ELCHK to enhance lifelong opportunities for third-age citizens.
