A Screening and Post-screening Sharing of "Germinal, 10 Years of MA in Philosophy Programme" at Old Heaven Bookshop" in Shenzhen

A special screening and post-screening sharing of "Germinal, 10 Years of MA in Philosophy Programme"* was held on 4 April at Old Heaven Bookshop in Shenzhen. The event was extremely well-received; with a full hall packed with over 100 participants, and some participants had to take their seats on the floor.

The movie sparked an interesting assortment of opinions from participants and created a high level of intellectual excitement. Some of them enquired about the application of CUHK postgraduate programmes, some posed questions on the philosophy of life and the impact of philosophy in the contemporary world. Other participants were deeply interested in the movie production. Professor Wong Kai Yee and Professor Lau Kwok Ying of the Department of Philosophy, Mr Kwok Wai Lun, Director and Ms Joyce Cheung, Programme Coordinator were all impressed by the strong interest in philosophy the participants demonstrated and took their inquiries seriously.

The whole event ended in a warm atmosphere. It was touching when some of the participants kept on raising questions and showed reluctance to leave.

Special thanks to the bookshop for the hospitality. Participants of this special screening enjoyed the fruitful and memorable evening.

* "Germinal, 10 Years of MA in Philosophy Programme " was specially produced to celebrate the tenth anniversary of MA Programme in Philosophy. The movie was a collection of interviews of teachers in Philosophy and alumni from all walks of life, documenting their views on the philosophy of life, death and the society at large.
