Institute of Mathematical Statistics Fellow - Prof. Song Xinyuan



Prof. Song Xinyuan has been elected to the fellowship of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS). The IMS Fellowship honors their members’ outstanding research and professional contributions, which help keep IMS in a leading role in the fields of statistics and probability.

Prof. Song’s research interests cover the Bayesian method, latent variable models, nonparametric and semiparametric methods, statistical computing, statistical diagnostics and survival analysis.


Kan Tong Po International Fellowship 2024 - Prof. Wong Hoi Ying



Prof. Wong Hoi Ying was awarded the Kan Tong Po International Fellowship 2024 by The Royal Society.


Junior Researcher Award in ICSA 2024 China Conference - Prof. Li Gen



Prof. Li Gen has received the Junior Researcher Award in ICSA 2024 China Conference and his research paper “A non-asymptotic distributional theory of approximate message passing for sparse and robust regression” (with Wei Yuting) was submitted to Annals of Statistics.


Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award 2023
Faculty Exemplary Teaching Award 2023 - Prof. Chan Kin Wai


Prof. Chan Kin Wai was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award 2023 and the Faculty Exemplary Teaching Award 2023 in recognition of his distinguished teaching performance.


Gold Award at the Teaching and Learning Innovation Expo 2023 - Dr. John Wright



The Teaching and Learning Innovation Expo 2023 was held on 5 December 2023 and Dr. John Wright received the gold award for the poster called “Transforming teaching statistics to non-background students through bespoke training – lessons from five TAs” which refers to the Teaching Development and Language Enhancement Grant (TDLEG) project “Supporting statistics research postgraduates to teach quantitative data analysis to postgraduate students without statistics background”.
