We recently marked the first anniversary of Open Books Hong Kong (OBHK), a milestone that reflects our commitment to making research more accessible to the world via Hong Kong, in the CUHK spirit of bringing together China and the West. We also celebrate the recognition of our book A Vibrant Voyage from China: pith paintings at the Chinese University of Hong Kong Library in the prestigious Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards this summer.
In this edition, you will find updates on our latest acquisitions and e-resources, as we continue to enhance our library's physical and digital offerings. We are also excited to share insights on how the library is supporting our researchers’ impact and the various ways we are enhancing the user experience as we embark on a new academic year.
Our spotlight this month shines on the ‘A Century of Wisdom in Action — The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University’ exhibition, opening in the Library this autumn, and our ongoing efforts to foster global connections and partnerships. Additionally, we introduce you to our Research Data Librarian, Ms. Qinqin Zhang. Data is often described as the ‘new oil’, which makes Qinqin our rig engineer, ensuring the infrastructure we provide is effective and that all in the data drillers in the CUHK community can get advice on how to extract the data they need and store it into appropriate containers.
The CUHK Library is committed to working in partnership across the entire research lifecycle. Read our feature on how the library is making CUHK research more accessible to the world from our dedicated Research & Learning Support Team. This includes our initiatives to support Faculty research impact and the various enhancements we have made to improve the user experience.
We are committed to fostering an environment where research and learning can thrive, and I hope you will feel the benefits of that commitment during the coming academic year at CUHK, regardless of whether you are a new member of the community, or a long-serving Faculty member. Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We look forward to welcoming you to the Library, either in-person or through our wide range of digital services, and hearing your feedback. I hope you enjoy this edition.
