EAP-tips: "Building Positive Human Relationships"
The topic of human relationships is no doubt one of the best selling categories at bookstores. This is because many people are looking for ways to improve their interpersonal relationships. Researches have found that people who enjoy better relationships tend to live longer and happier. While some people may find it difficult to connect with people of different opinions, mature people should be able to express themselves without losing their stances or friendships with others. Here are some essential elements in building positive relationships with others.

1. Be Genuine

If you want to build a positive relationship, you need to genuinely open up yourself and interact with others so that they can feel your sincerity.

2. Be Understanding

Everyone have their own perception and thoughts. Learn to understand others' reasons/motives can avoid judgmental attitude.

3. Be Respectful

It is normal that different people hold different opinions as far as you know how to respect others. Do not try to impose your ideas on others.

4. Be Able to Adjust Yourself

Sometimes, things may not work out your way. Be ready to adjust your thinking and feelings by taking another perspective. Do something to relax and adapt yourself to challenging situations.

5. Be Calm

The most important element of building up positive relationships with others is to stay calm. Remember, colleagues are your teammates at work, not competitors. Try to appreciate others' strengths and learn from them. This is absolutely the best way to attain win-win relationships.
