You are our pride

CUSCS encourages and fully supports our students to participate in local and international competitions for self-development and life enrichment. Over the past few months, our students scooped various distinguished awards in different competitions. Let us take a close look at highlights of these joyful moments:

The team "Triangle" comprising Chan Hoi-ying, Chen Chor-yiu, Li Chun-hei and Li Wan-ki, students of Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management, beat 400 teams in the ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition 2012 and snatched the Champion, Best Proposal and My Favourite Team. Chen Chor-yiu won the Best Presenter Award.

This year, each contesting team was required to simulate a non-profit making project that is conducive to the development of creative industries in Hong Kong for an organisation and prepare a business proposal for this project to bid a sponsorship from CreateHK's CreateSmart Initiative.

With their innovative proposal of printing comics featured tissue papers and setting up comic themed washrooms together with outstanding presentation, the team won the Championship, "Best Proposal", "My Favourite Team" and Chen Chor-yiu was awarded the "Best Presenter".

"It was such an unforgettable and rewarding experience. We learnt the beauty of teamwork; we put what we learnt into practice; we presented an innovative yet implementable proposal which made us the Champion," the team said.  They thanked their lecturer who helped them to improve their presentation skills. They also thanked the School for offering a comprehensive curriculum which helped them outshine other competitors.

In the 13th Footwear Design Competition Hong Kong organised by the Hong Kong Footwear Association, eight students of Higher Diploma in Fashion Design and Product Development (now renamed as Higher Diploma in Fashion Design and Business), and Higher Diploma in Commercial Design won nine awards in the competition including the Overall Champion, Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in various categories.

Kung Ting, a student of Higher Diploma in Fashion Design and Product Development, took the Overall Champion and the Gold Award in the "Ladies' Shoes" Category.  She was overwhelmed to have won the Overall Champion. The recognition reinforced her determination and boosted her confidence to work in the design industry.

Last but not least, Lo Pui-man, a student of Higher Diploma in Human Resources Management, won the First Runner-up Award in the 64th Hong Kong School Speech Festival (Chinese Speech) by reciting two poems. "This is an incredible experience for me. I will take every opportunity to further enhance myself through other vibrant learning experience," Pui-man said.

The School is extremely proud of the remarkable achievements of our students. Let's keep it up!
