Building upon the Symposium on Future Directions for Public Health Education held on 28 February and 1 March 2009, the School of Public Health and Primary Care is going to host the "Asia Conference on Emerging Issues in Public Health" in partnership with the Chinese National Consortium for Public Health Education for Non-Public Health Undergraduates, Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH),the Chinese Ministry of Education Advisory Committee on Preventive Medicine for Higher Education, the Chinese Association of Education in Public Health of the Chinese Association of Preventive Medicine, the Chinese Association of Education in Preventive Medicine of the Chinese Association of Higher Education in Medical Sciences, Health Human Resources Development Center of the Ministry of Health in China, Beijing Health Human Resources Training Center in China, China Medical Board, Hong Kong College of Community Medicine, and the UK Faculty of Public Health amongst others between 29 November and 2 December 2009.
The conference will provide a timely platform for discussing the emerging issues in public health, educational strategies for the future and to identify shared interests and joint ventures in research, service, education and training with all experts and partners in the field. Plenary lectures will be delivered by prominent figures in the field from different countries including Hong Kong, Mainland China, USA, UK and Australia. We believed that experience sharing and cross-fertilisation of knowledge plays a critical role in tackling the emerging issues, and our concurrent sessions would provide a platform for public health professionals and researchers from all over the world to present their research results and encourage information sharing.
