Graduates of the Higher Diploma Programme in Fashion Design and Product Development held a fashion show on July 6, 2010 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of the School's 45th anniversary celebrations. Budding talents showcased their accomplishments over the past three years and competed to be the champion, first runner-up and second-runner up. The Coats Creativity Award and the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association Best Collection Award were also presented. The winners were selected by an expert judging panel including Mr. Felix Chung, Chairman of the Hong Kong Apparel Society; Ms. Janae Chan, Founder of Beauty Tech Institute Limited; Mr. Jansen Poon, Marketing Manager of Tajima Embroidery Machine Limited; Ms. Judy Mann, renowned fashion designer and image consultant; Ms. Karen Chan, Art Director (Artiste Image – Costume) of Television Broadcasts Limited; and Mr. Walter Ma, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association. Dr. Victor Lee, Director of the School, presented the awards to the winners and congratulated them on their creativity and talent.
Sara Wong Siu Ling, winner of the HKFDA Best Collection Award noted, "I am proud of what I accomplished today. I knew nothing about fashion design before I enrolled in the School's Higher Diploma Programme, so I started everything from scratch. I took the programme after finishing my A-Levels, and I found the courses very diversified and professional. They have equipped me with all sorts of fashion design skills. I am deeply impressed by my teachers and classmates, who are passionate towards fashion design, and their passion has made me become an enthusiastic learner."
The show was staged during the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2011 organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. |
