The delegation was firstly arranged to tour the laboratories and the wards for clinical research at Guangdong Academy of Chinese Medicine, which was located at the premises of GD-TCM. After the tour, SBS representatives were invited to a meeting to share their respective research focuses and proposed topics for potential collaboration. Representatives of GD-TCM with similar research focuses also joined in to introduce their latest research projects with adoption of Chinese medicine and their intention for academic exchange and collaboration. Both parties had explored collaboration opportunities on several areas like management of laboratory facilities, training of research personnel, development of new medicine, etc. The delegation was also arranged to tour the headquarters of GD-TCM before departure.
On 18 March 2016, a seven-member delegation led by Prof. Lue Yu-bo, Founding President of GD-TCM Hospital Group, paid a return visit to our School. The delegation met with Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Prof. Fung Kwok-pui, Associate Director (Academic Administration) together with the Principle Investigators (PIs) who had attended the visit to GD-TCM last time. To have more in-depth discussion, delegation members had individual meetings with PIs at their laboratories for exchanging views on research collaboration. Tour of our Core Laboratories Facility located in the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building was arranged for the delegation followed by the meetings. Apart from visiting SBS, the delegation was also invited to pay a visit to the Office of Academic Links, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and was guided to tour the CUHK campus.
We hope that the visits and academic exchange can help build stronger ties among the two institutions, and allow researchers to explore opportunities to promote focused and target-oriented collaboration.
