40th year reunion dinner of class 1976

The reunion gathering for class 1976 will be held in November 2016. The reunion is an opportunity for alumni to recapture happy moments of their university life, share recent experiences with each other, and advise the College on future development. CUHK Alumni Homecoming Day---College Activities

The 2016 Alumni Homecoming Day will be held on Saturday, 26 November 2016. The day is organized by the Alumni Affairs Office and includes a Homecoming Banquet with the Head of College. Unfortunately, the registration is already full.

Our deepest condolences on the passing of Ma Cheuk-long

On April 2016, Ma Cheuk-long, a year-2 student of our College, was diagnosed with myocarditis leading to end-stage heart failure. At that time, he was in urgent need of a heart transplant to save his life. Although he finally found a suitable donor heart and underwent heart transplant surgery, his condition remained unstable. In the evening of 30 August 2016, Queen Mary Hospital confirmed that Cheuk-long had passed away due to multiple organ failure. Cheuk-long was a hard-working student and a good, kind person. Members of New Asia College mourn his passing with deep sadness and convey their deepest condolences to the Ma family.

Poon Lok Yan at the Olympic 2016

Poon Lok Yan, a student of Department of Sports Science and Physical Education of our College represented Hong Kong at the Badminton Women's Doubles Competition of Rio Olympics on August 2016. Although Poon had injured her knee during a competition in November 2015 and was forced out of competition for six months, she put tremendous effort into her recovery and was finally admitted to the Olympics 2016. Although Poon was not a medal-winner, we are so proud of her.

New Asia Alumni Hostel Homecoming Camp 2016

The College organized the "New Asia Alumni Home Coming Camp 2016" on 30-31 July 2016. More than 100 alumni and family members participated. The objectives of the camp were to let the alumni reminisce about their college lives, and share with their family members; enjoy their family; and get to know alumni of different graduation classes.

"We are Powerful" New Asia College Summer Basketball Camp

Jointly organized by New Asia College and New Asia College Alumni Association, "We are Powerful" New Asia College Summer Basketball Camp was held from 4 to 6 August 2016. Over 100 basketball team players from CUHKFAA Chan Chun Ha Secondary School, King's College, Munsang College, St Paul's College, Wah Yan College, Kowloon and Wah Yan College, Hong Kong attended basketball training on campus. To have a taste of hostel life, the team members and coaches were invited to stay at Chih Hsing Hall. Through the campus tour, icebreaker games, alumni sharing, basketball training and matches, the youngsters were acquainted with the College and got to know more about our unique college system.

The 10th year Reunion Dinner for Class 2006

The College has been committed to holding diverse alumni activities to enable even better connections among New Asia Alumni. Through these activities, the College is eager to listen to Alumni from different years give their recommendations on the development of the College. The 10th year, 20th year, 30th year and 40th year Reunion Activities are the highlights of every year's alumni activities because these reunions allow alumni from to have their own reunions and gather with their former college mates.

The 67th Founders' Day of New Asia College

From August to October, the College students, staff and alumni participated in a series of activities to celebrate the 67th Founders' Day of New Asia College.

 

This year's theme was "Dancing Twinkle", comparing fireflies to New-Asians who grew up in New Asia and have shone in different walks of life. They gathered in New Asia campus for the celebration of Founders' Day, forming a pleasant picture. The organizing committee wanted College students, staff and alumni to return to campus, as their second home, and have a pleasant time there.

The 67th College Anniversary Scholarship Presentation Ceremony & luncheon

The 67th College Anniversary Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held at Sir Run Run Hall on 30 September 2016. This year, Dr. K.L. Wong, Eminent Investment Banker, Former Chairman, Asia Investment Banking, Merrill Lynch (Asia Pacific) Ltd., Honorary Fellow of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees, New Asia College, was our Guest of Honor. With generous donations from our trustees, alumni and people from the community at large, over 150 scholarships were presented to more than 400 students, who have demonstrated excellent performance in various ways.

The New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China 2016/17 (1st Lecture)

In view of China's recent rapid growth, the College has held the "New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China" starting from 2012, with the aim of arousing public awareness and discussion on China's development.  Scholars and public figures from various professions are invited to deliver lectures on issues related to the economy, society and environment of Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.  The first lecture of the New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China 2016/17 was held in the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, CUHK on 5 October this year.

Inauguration Dinner of New Asia Young Scholars Scheme 2016/2017

New Asia Young Scholars Scheme aims at promoting whole-person development among our students, empowering their passion for Chinese culture, and equipping them with qualities such as sensitivity to social issues and leadership skills.

 

New Asia Young Scholars Scheme 2016/2017 officially commenced in September 2016. The New Asia Young Scholar Students will be participating in a series of events, including College Meetings, talks, workshops and alumni activities to communicate and learn from professors, alumni and The Council of the College.
