Photo Day 2019

The College's fourth graduating class will shortly complete their undergraduate studies at CUHK and leave the College for the workplace or for further studies. The Photo Day 2019 on 1 March 2019 was an occasion for the graduates-to-be to reminisce about their College life, and for the College to wish them the best in the days ahead.

Launch Ceremony for the Mentorship Scheme and Presentation of Scholarships and Certificates 2018–19

The Launch Ceremony for the Mentorship Scheme and Presentation of Scholarships and Certificates 2018–19 was held on 16 March 2019. Over a hundred people were present, including Dr David CHU, Chairman of the Committee of Overseers, scholarship donors, mentors and mentees, guests and friends of the College, College affiliates, parents, as well as award and certificate recipients.

English Calligraphy Workshop

To inspire College students to write in their own hands to their beloved ones, the English Calligraphy Workshop targeting beginners was held before the Valentine's Day on 12 February 2019. It was hosted by Mr Jeremy ETH, a letter artist and former product designer.

Hong Kong Cup All Japan University Student Ambassadors English Programme 2018–19

In late February 2019, the College welcomed one of the student ambassadors of the Hong Kong Cup All Japan University Student Ambassadors English Programme 2018–19. The programme was organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) and the Japan News to encourage university students in Japan to explore the dynamism and rich diversity of Hong Kong. The Japanese student, Ms Aiko YAMASHITA, resided in the College hostel from 26 February to 4 March 2019, and had some memorable moments with our students.

Mentorship Scheme 2018–19

The College Mentorship Scheme was first introduced in 2012. By now, over 70 mentors, all distinguished professionals in various fields, have joined the Scheme to help our students. A total of almost 200 students are either currently in the Mentorship Scheme, or have completed the Scheme.

Career and Internship Scheme

College Internship Scheme 2019

 

Under the scheme this year, almost 50 summer internship opportunities were sourced from 15 companies/ organisations across various fields, such as accounting, administration, engineering, hotel services, marketing, press, programming, research and development and social services. They were open for application in early March 2019.

College Service Team

Laisee for the Chest

 

This charitable activity, organised by The Community Chest of Hong Kong, aims to strengthen the NGO's elderly services with funds raised by people who donate their laisee (red packet money). The Service Team supported the meaningful act by appealing to College students to donate some of their laisee received during the Lunar New Year between February and March 2019. A total of HK$800 was collected and donated to The Community Chest.

Residents' Association

The Fifth Executive Committee of the Residents' Association, Cosmos, organised the following activities for the College residents (mid-February to mid-March 2019):

Toastmasters Club Taster Sessions

 

The Toastmasters Club Taster Sessions have been organised by the College with the assistance of our student coordinators, to encourage College students to improve public speaking skills through peer sharing of tips on oratory, prepared and impromptu speeches and peer evaluation and support.

Sports

Lacrosse Fun Day

 

Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. Players use the head of the stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. In collaboration with Morningside College, CW Chu College held its first Lacrosse Fun Day on 25 January 2019 at Sir Philip Haddon-Cave Sports Field. A total of 15 CWC students joined the Fun Day.
