3. Wi-Fi Connections On and Off Campus

We have further enhanced the access this summer. Here are the updates!

On Campus: CUHK Wi-Fi Service

When you receive a Wi-Fi signal "CUHK" (formerly CUwebLogin) on campus, you can simply open your browser (such as IE, firefox, safari) and enter your CWEM password in order to get the Wi-Fi access.

Off Campus: CUHK Wi-Fi Hotspot Partnership Programme
Under this programme, you can get a free Wi-Fi Internet access at all the hotspots operated by three partners, PCCW, Y5Zone and Eduroam. The first two allow you to have Wi-Fi access at their hotspots in many shopping malls, coffee shops, airport, etc. in Hong Kong. And the latter even gives you Wi-Fi access in other countries.

7. Courseware Development Grant - Call for Applications

The Academic IT Steering Committee (AITSC) has established the Courseware Development Grant Scheme (CDGS) in the 2007-2008 academic year to encourage teachers to move forward from the basic use of e-Learning towards developing more sophisticated or more complete e-learning environment for their students. It is now the second year and inviting applications from members of the teaching staff for projects funded under this allocation.

Please note that ITSC or CUHK will NEVER ask for your e-mail password.

9. Feature: Going green, we re-use CD jewel cases

Each year we receive thousands of orders for software media through our various licensing programmes.  These software media, often in the form of a CD ROM, are packed in a CD jewel case.  While recycling is a better option than sending the CD jewel cases to landfills, the process still uses energy and creates pollution.
