Madam CHONG Kin Wo: In Memoriam

The College has learnt with deep regret of the passing away of Madam CHONG Kin Wo on 8 February 2019. Madam CHONG was the respected 'Dumpling Queen', a philanthropist and a supporter of the College's educational spirit and mission.

College Orientation Camp 2018

The College Orientation Camp (O' Camp) is the very first College activity that introduces the first-year students to their College life. It also aims to develop among new students a sense of belonging to the College community, and to let them know and get familiar with the support available, both emotional and informational, as they go through an important transition in their lives.

3rd CWC Festival: The Distinguished

The 3rd CWC Festival of the College, 'The Distinguished', was held from 30 October to 6 November 2018 by an Organising Committee (OC) formed mainly by Year 2 students. It was a student-initiated College event that aimed to enhance CUHK students' understanding of the College, strengthen bonding among College students and integrate students from different origins.

Cultus et Beneficentia Award 2018
Congratulations to Mr LI Chi Chuen Matthew, a Year 5 student majoring in Global Economics and Finance, for receiving the Cultus et Beneficentia Award 2018, in recognition of his sustained commitment to enhancing bonding and facilitating cultural exchanges among College members, his insatiable quest for knowledge and intellectual excellence, and his burning passion for organising and supporting College events and activities.
Thanksgiving Party

A party was held at the College to celebrate Thanksgiving on 22 November 2018. Two incoming exchange students from the United States, Mr Tyler James HEPLER of CWC and Mr Orrion CAWTHORNE of SH Ho College, played host to the party and invited some of their friends from other Colleges to join the celebration.

The 15th CUHK Intercollegiate Rowing Championships

The College is very proud of our Men's and Women's Rowing Teams, who did exceptionally well in the 15th CUHK Rowing Championships on 5 and 6 January 2019. The prizes they won were as follows:

Workshop on Creativity and Introduction of the Julie Yu Scholarship

To introduce students to the concept of creativity and the details of The Professor Julie Hung Hsua Yu Scholarship for Intellectual Excel-leration ('Julie Yu Scholarship' for short), the Workshop on Creativity was held on 22 January 2019. Year 3 students who have to finish their Final Year Projects for the College General Education course 'Senior Seminar' next academic year were especially encouraged to attend the workshop to gain inspiration for their group projects.

Night Talk: How Einstein Changed Our World

Prof Tjonnie LI, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, hosted a Night Talk on 23 January 2019. Targeting students from non-Physics majors, the talk aimed to introduce the audience to four prominent physical concepts Einstein proposed and the modern applications of his findings, such as the Global Positioning System (GPS).

Peer Mentoring Program 2018

To help new students adapt to university life, the College has been co-hosting the Peer Mentoring Program organised by the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) since its launch in 2014. Each peer mentee receives individual support from a peer mentor, an upper-year student matched by major subjects and trained by ILC.
