Footprints on the Forking Road
The first 7-11 convenience store in Macau appeared in 2005. Macau gaming revenues have been soaring ever since the opening of the gambling franchise in 2002.  Gambling has changed the lifestyle of Macanese and given birth to the mushrooming of 24-hour convenience stores. With guidance from 8 SHHO students, 16 junior secondary students came to Macau under the scorching July sun to organize activities for the target groups in two social welfare organizations. They worked as team players in the service projects, and learnt from YMCA and Macao Polytechnic Institute about how gambling changes the urban life.

An Icy Challenge for a Good Cause
A few staff members and students at S.H. Ho College made a gritty determination over the scorching summer. They dumped a bucket of ice water over their heads on the lawn of the College's rooftop, and made a donation in support of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that is hard to cure. The ice water moisturized the grass for its growth, symbolizing the participants' good will to inspire continued tending care for the needy.

To Cambodia with Love
Chow Yin Ting, Year 3, Medicine

I am eager to be a part of the service team because there are not many service trips as medically oriented as this one. This also explains why I decided to join the social service trip the second time and have gained so much fruitful experience. My first time going to Cambodia was very exciting and I experienced lots of fascinating discoveries. This time, serving together with the participants from S.H. Ho College and Yuanpei College, Peking University, I developed a more profound understanding on the underprivileged groups in Cambodia.

Connecting the Dots of Various Life Stories
SHHO students started to visit the residents at SAGE Madam Ho Sin Hang Home for the Aged since the Christmas event in 2013.
S.H. Ho College has joined the Sentimental Grandparent Scheme in the second consecutive year. Each resident at SAGE Madam Ho Sin Hang Home for the Aged was assigned to a group of two students who paid regular visits for four months and compiled a 'life story book' at the end of the scheme. Through listening to the residents' life journey and how they coped with their ups and downs, students built deep emotional connections with the elderly and had their resilience nurtured to confront their life challenges.

Hooked on Polynesian Culture
Hawaii, known as the 'Paradise of the Pacific', brings up images of warm breezes, hula, magnificent volcanoes, soft sand beaches edged by translucent water. With keen interest in exploring the authentic Polynesian culture in Hawaii, 16 S.H. Ho College members and students visited historical and geographical sites like Pearl Harbor and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park over the summer break. They were immersed in the cultural melting pot with ethnicities and lifestyles.

Running has once been my most hated sports activity. I could not imagine I would love running in my lifetime, which is incredible and surprising.

Visitations from Near and Far
