New Asia Lectures on Confucianism 2013/14

With the rapid growth in the Chinese economy, there has been a growing interest in understanding our traditional culture. In response to this trend, the New Asia College, with generous support from the Moonchu Foundation, established the "New Asia Lectures on Confucianism" in 2013. Each year, a distinguished scholar is invited to the College for around two weeks to deliver a series of three public lectures on Confucianism, with the aim of arousing interest among academics and the general public. 

Yu Ying-shih Lecture in History 2013

To promote cultural academic exchanges and historical studies, the New Asia College  collaborated with Chung Chi College and the Department of History of the Chinese University in 2007 to host the "Yu Ying-shih Lecture in History". Each year, an outstanding scholar in history studies is invited to give lectures, and the series has gained wide recognition among academics in the field of culture and the public.

Spontaneous Attraction –Intensive Training on Presentation and Communication Skills

In order to further enhance students' communication skills, New Asia College organized a workshop series named "Spontaneous Attraction – Intensive Training on Presentation and Communication Skills" in November 2013, which was well received by our students and alumni.

The 62nd Graduation Ceremony

The College's 62nd Graduation Ceremony was held on 21 November 2013 at the University Mall. Around 50 Trustees, guests and teaching staff attended the ceremony, as well as some 2,500 graduates and their relatives. Graduates and parents were all smiles, sharing the joy of graduation.

New Asia College Mentorship Programme – Career Talks Day Debut

Mentors of the New Asia College Mentorship Programme are experts in their fields and students always gain a lot from their sharing. The College organized a Career Talks Day on 18 January 2014 for the first time. There were 12 career workshops and 2 keynote speeches, which provided information about different specialisms and most importantly the correct attitude in the workplace. There were over 100 participants, including non-mentee New Asia students.

CUHK Alumni Homecoming 2013

CUHK Alumni Homecoming 2013 was made all the more meaningful because of the University's Golden Jubilee celebrations.

 

This year's Homecoming event was held on 7 December 2013 and attracted over five thousand alumni and their friends. Around three hundred of them travelled all the way from America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Beijing and Shanghai to join the celebrations.

The 10th Thousand-people Banquet of Hong Kong Asia Lions Club

In collaboration with New Asia College, the Thousand-people Banquet organized by the Hong Kong Asia Lions Club was held on 9th November, 2013 on the New Asia College campus. This was the tenth year that the event had been held in New Asia College. There were a total of ninety-six tables of guests with more than half of the tables being attended by senior citizens.

The Lunar Solstice and Christmas Party

The New Asia College Staff Association organized this annual event to celebrate the Winter Solstice and Christmas on December 13, 2013 at the staff canteen. Professor Shun Kwong-loi, Head of the College and Mrs. Shun attended the party and enjoyed a happy gathering with more than 110 staff.

New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China 2013/14

In view of China's rapid economic growth in recent years, the College established the "New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China" in 2012 with the aim of stimulating public interest in the development and challenges of our country. A scholar or a celebrity from various professions is invited each year to deliver lectures/seminars on recent issues related to the economy, society and environment of mainland China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong.

The 27th Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture

Prof. Peter K. Bol, Charles H. Carswell Professor of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, Harvard University, will visit the College in early April to chair the 27th Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture.

Alumni Reunions

Reunion gatherings for class 1974, 1984, 1994 and 2004 will be held in 2014. The reunion serves as a valuable platform for alumni to recapture happy moments of their university life, share their recent experiences with each other, and give valuable advice to facilitate the future development of the College.
