Three CUHK Scholars Awarded Croucher Senior Research Fellowship 2006-07
Three research academics from The Chinese University were presented the prestigious Senior Research Fellowships of The Croucher Foundation on 28th March 2006, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the international scientific community. They were Prof. Hak-fun Chow (Department of Chemistry), Prof. Jie Huang (Department of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering), and Prof. Dennis Y.M. Lo (Department of Chemical Pathology) who was awarded the Medical Research Fellowship. The awards were presented by Prof. Zhou Guangzhao, chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology.

Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung of The Chinese University Wins Cheung Kong Achievement Award
Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, associate dean of the Faculty of Medicine and chairman of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, CUHK, was conferred the 2005 Cheung Kong Achievement Award, being the only Hong Kong scholar to have won the honour. The presentation of the Cheung Kong Achievement Awards and the appointment of Cheung Kong Scholars took place in a ceremony held on 29th March in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The ceremony was officiated by Mr. Chen Zhili, State Councillor and Mr. Zhou Ji, Minister, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China gave an address.

CUHK Teacher and Student Named 2005 Leader of the Year
Prof. Samuel Sun, professor of biology, and Ms. Yu Chui-yee, freshman in the Department of Geography and Resource Management of Chung Chi College, have been named 2005 Leaders of the Year by the Singtao Group. Attending the awards ceremony on 28th March at the Grand Hyatt were Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Rafael Hui, Chief Secretary for Administration, Henry Tang, Financial Secretary, and Michael Suen, Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands.
