Six Distinguished Persons to Be Honoured by CUHK
The Chinese University of Hong Kong will confer honorary doctorates on six distinguished persons at its Sixty-second Congregation for the Conferment of Degrees on Thursday, 8th December 2005. The six honorary graduands are Mr. Vincent Cheng Hoi-chuen, distinguished banker and chairman of HSBC; Prof. Ambrose King Yeo-chi, renowned sociologist and former vice-chancellor of CUHK; Prof. Li Yihyuan, famous anthropologist, academician of Academia Sinica in Taiwan and chairman of the Chiang Ching Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange; Dr. Lien Chan, eminent statesman and honorary chairman of the Kuomintang; Dr. Richard J. Roberts, renowned molecular biologist and Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine (1993); and Mr. Wang Daohan, respected senior statesman and president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait.
The Second CUHK Journalism Award
The School of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese University has announced the results of the 2nd CUHK Journalism Award. The winner of the electronic media category is executive producer (special projects) of TVB News Mr. Au Ka-lun and the winner of the print media category is South China Morning Post reporter, Ms. Ravina Shamdasani. They will each receive a trophy and a certificate on top of a cash prize of HK$20,000. The awards ceremony will take place at the 40th anniversary dinner of the School of Journalism and Communication, to be held on 22nd October 2005. The officiating guests are Prof. Lawrence J. Lau, vice-chancellor of the University, and The Hon. Mr. Justice Patrick Chan, Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal.
