Lecture Series by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Scholars – Professor Shen Jiaxuan
Every year, the Office of Academic Links (China) at CUHK organises the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Scholars Visit Programme. Prominent CASS scholars are invited to visit the University and to deliver public lectures in the "Lecture Series by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Scholars".

The Lecture Series by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Scholars is organised by the Office of Academic Links (China), CUHK and co-organised by the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre. On 10 April 2013, Professor Shen Jiaxuan, one of the CASS scholars, delivered a public lecture on Chinese grammar, focusing on nominal and verbal categories.

Professor Shen Jiaxuan is a Division Member of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Co-Editor-in-Chief of Contemporary Linguistics (Dangdai Yuyanxue), and was the former Director of the Institute of Linguistics. His research interests cover Chinese grammar and syntactic theory.

In his talk, Professor Shen pointed out that verbs in Chinese constitute a subcategory of the noun. This talk attracted about a hundred participants, including academics and research students.
