This project is initiated and conducted by Prof. Ha Sau Ching Amy, Dr. Sum Kim Wai Raymond of the Department of SSPE and Professor Tang Lai Yiu Eunice of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. By adopting Fullan's comprehensive framework of six interrelated domains of commitment and knowledge, namely, (i) Teaching and Learning (ii) Collegiality (iii) Educational Contexts (iv) Continuous Learning (v) Change Process and (vi) Moral Purpose, this project attempts to build a sustainable professional partnership system among university scholars, frontline secondary / primary schoolteachers and prospective teachers in order to enrich and enhance the good work among the Physical Education (PE) professionals.
The objectives of the project include:
1. To create and develop means of communication channels which includes face-to-face and electronic web-based platform of Communities of Practice among PE professionals of the university scholars, frontline school teachers and student teachers and other possible educational agents, such as administrators and curriculum planners of the Education Bureau of the HKSAR government;
2. To initiate / develop a systematic and goal-oriented professional portfolio for both pre-service and in-service PE professionals to examine and analyze their professional experiences;
3. To analyze and evaluate the effect of "communities of practice" and "professional portfolio" on PE teachers' professional development in Hong Kong.
