All full-time undergraduate students must have a valid study visa, i.e. the current limit of stay does not expire, for pursuing studies at the University. By breaching a condition of stay, one may be prosecuted by the Immigration Department and shall be liable on conviction to a fine at level 5 (HK$50,000) and to imprisonment for 2 years.
If you are NOT currently on suspension and your study visa has already expired, please seek advice from the Immigration Department directly. Hotline: (852) 2824 6111; Email: enquiry@immd.gov.hk If you need to re-apply your study visa, please prepare the Application form ID 995A and the required documents, which can be downloaded at www.cuhk.edu.hk/osa/lces/usefulinformation.html, and send them to the Learning and Cultural Enhancement Section, Office of Student Affairs for further processing. If you have renewed your travel documents/passports lately, please apply for a transfer of endorsement so that your current immigration status in Hong Kong is indicated on the new travel document. Until this has been done, it is advisable to carry both old and new travel documents for departure and arrival clearance at Hong Kong immigration control points. For more details, please read www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/estoe.html.
For both Visa re-application and Extension of Stay, you are required to submit a certifying letter issued by the Registration and Examinations Section. You may apply online: www.res.cuhk.edu.hk/en-gb/applications/current-full-time-undergraduate-students/application-forms/transcript-certifying-letter-report-on-curriculum-details.
