Home Away from Home
Last April and May were hectic months for CUHK University Officers who visited the alumni associations of 4 cities in North America in a week's time in May soon after joining a tea reception in Beijing in late April. Although the delegation members were away from their home city, the warm reception of overseas alumni made them feel very much at home.

With the help of Alumni Affairs Office, 10 alumni associations in North America were with one heart in organizing the dinner receptions in Vancouver, Toronto, San Francisco and Los Angeles between 4-11 May in honor of the delegation led by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Jack Cheng.

To make the delegation visit an enjoyable one, the alumni associations in the areas tried their best to make sure that every aspect during the visit was well taken care of. Some alumni specially paid visits to the hotels in which the delegation intended to stay so as to ensure the environment is satisfactory before the delegation made the bookings. Others teamed up to welcome the arrival of the delegation at the airport while some voluntarily drove the delegation to and from the hotel and gathering venue.

The attendance of 450+ alumni and friends in the 4 cities was an illustration of their endearing thoughts of the alma mater. Donations of over US$6,000 were raised to the alma mater by the alumni communities in the region.

On the other side of the world, alumni in Beijing expressed the same enthusiasm in receiving the University's delegation led by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Lawrence Lau. A tea reception was hosted by the alumni in Beijing on April 28 in which close to 60 alumni and their family members joined. Many cherished the opportunity of meeting the delegation and managed to attend the reception amidst their various obligations.

Photos and video clip highlighting the friendly moments of the gatherings in North America are now available at the website of the Alumni Affairs Office. For details, please visit http://www.alumni.cuhk.edu.hk/eng/associations/delegation.html.
