The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Zhejiang University (ZJU) held online meeting on 11 August to discuss future bilateral cooperation plans. The meeting was co-chaired by Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Professor Wu Zhaohui, President of ZJU. Participants of CUHK comprised Professor Alan Chan, Provost; Professor Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Professor Sham Mai-har, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China). ZJU had representatives including Professor He Lianzhen, Vice President; and Ms. Li Min, Director of Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan Affairs Office.
The two universities introduced their new developments and measures during the epidemic period in teaching, scientific research and management. Discussions were held on new plans in strengthening relationship based on solid cooperation between the two universities. The meeting allowed to reinforce strong cooperation at the university level as well and to develop joint initiatives and education programmes covering areas in exhibition of cultural relics, financial technology, digital economy and spatial intelligence.
Since the establishment of partnership in 1991, CUHK has been collaborating closely with ZJU via a range of projects in research, supervision of postgraduates and student interflow. Both universities are members of the Worldwide Universities Network, Cross-Strait Green University Consortium and Association of University Presidents of China, and have jointly established research units in biomedical engineering, natural products research, advanced photonics, as well as liver and digestive diseases. The meeting further enhanced understanding and bolstered the linkage between the two universities, building closer collaboration platforms.
