Professor Poon Wai-yin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), attended the 20th Anniversary Ceremony of CUHK-Tsinghua MBA Programme in Finance (FMBA) in Beijing on 11 January 2020.
The celebration activity themed "Growth and Changes" was held at Mong Man Wai Concert Hall of Tsinghua University (Tsinghua). Representatives of CUHK joining the ceremony including Professor ZHOU Lin, Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, and Mr. Lam Wai Hung Enders, Chairman of Convocation of CUHK Alumni Association and Council member of CUHK.
Prof. Poon spoke at the ceremony to express her appreciation on the achievement of the FMBA programme, "The programme has cultivated more than 2,000 business elites and continued to contribute to the society.” Programme awards were presented by founding leaders and programme directors to honour teaching members that have been engaging in the programmes for more than five years. Professor Xie Wei-He, Vice Chairperson of University Council and Former Vice Present of Tsinghua, Professor Bai Chong-En, Dean of School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua, Professor Sean Xin Xu, Associate Dean of School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua, together with programme lecturers, guests of the finance industry and FMBA alumni, took part in the activities to celebrate the 20th birthday of the programme together. In the evening, Prof. Poon attended the annual dinner of CUHK Alumni Association in Beijing & Tianjin and enjoyed the dinner with around 60 alumni and guests.
The collaborative relationship between CUHK and Tsinghua could be dated back to the establishment of partnership as early as in 1985, after which both sides have been marking efforts to enhance linkages in fields ranging from teaching and research, to student and executive interflow, yielding far-reaching results. Apart from the joint FMBA programme, both universities established the Joint Research Center for Chinese Economy, and co-organised the World Philanthropy Forum. The two universities are planning a Master programme to nurture talents together.
