Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences and Prof Poon Wai-Sang of Department of Surgery, Associate Member of Stem Cell and Regeneration Program, served in the Organizing Committee and helped organize the first Life Sciences Session in the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2012. Both attended the Conference held on 2 April 2012 in Boao, Hainan Island. Prof Lu Gang, member of our Stem Cell and Regeneration Program also attended the event in his capacity as an Executive Committee Member of Life Sciences 2012. Professor Owen M. Rennert, Chairman of our Scientific Advisory Committee gave a talk on "The Twenty-first Century – a Translational Revolution". Invited comments from Prof. Chan and Prof. Poon can be found in the corresponding publication of the meeting (see pp27 to 29 and 34 to 35). We are privileged to have members of our School involved in organizing the first ever Life Science Session in a high level international conference such as the Boao Forum for Asia. Participation in this international event has helped our School not only in gaining more global and regional exposure but most importantly in building up a stronger network with overseas academics, government officials and industrial representatives who are committed to promoting translational research. |
