Cyber Security Campaign 2017 – Build a Botnet Free City

What is Botnet?
Botnet is a group of computers manipulated by hacked. They will be manipulated to send spams, phishing emails, viruses and ransomware to steal personal information and to attack systems.

A Campaign to Fight against Botnet
According to the figures from Kaspersky and Symantec, Hong Kong had around 3,000 suspicious bots from September to December 2016. As to improve the cyber security in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Police Force has launched the Cyber Security Campaign 2017 – Build a Botnet Free City. This campaign is aiming to-

  1. Reduce the number of Botnet-infected computers significantly
  2. Diminish the cyber threats against the local critical infrastructures, organizations, enterprises and individuals;
  3. Enhance the cyber security awareness of the public and;
  4. Engage the youths in promoting the immense of cyber security by introducing the concept of Botnet and its potential threats well as mitigating its impact.
