The delegation is composed of 6 academicians: Prof. Li Jiayang, Prof. Wang Enduo, Principal Investigator, Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS; Prof. Deng Zixin, Dean, School of Life Science and Biotechnology, Shanghai Jiaotong University; Prof. Zhao Jindong, Director, Institute of Hydrobiology, CAS; Prof. Meng An Ming, Director, Institute of Zoology, CAS; and Prof. Wu Weihua, Director, State Key Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, China Agricultural University; and Director, Life Science Division, NSFC; and Mr. Zhang Xinggen, Director, Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs Office, CAS.
On 24 February, the academicians delivered the "Lecture Series by Academicians". Their presentations attracted an audience of more than a hundred, including students, alumni, and faculty.
The delegates met with CUHK representatives and visited the Faculties of Medicine and Science, laboratories and research centres to understand the latest science and technology research development and direction of CUHK. They also discussed future possible areas of collaboration in the related fields.
CUHK launched the "Academicians Visitorship Programme" since last year. 5-6 CAS Academicians are visited to the University each year to forge academic exchange between the University and research institutes under CAS. It is hoped that through this project, CUHK can establish closer links with Academicians to enhance the University's quality of research outputs.
