New Colleges Series (1) – Morningside College

CUHK's unique college system will be further enriched with the addition of 5 new Colleges, namely Morningside, S. H. Ho, CW Chu, Wu Yee Sun and Lee Woo Sing for the four-year normative curriculum. The New College Series column in this issue will introduce you to Morningside College.

Founded in 2006 with the generous gifts from the Morningside Foundation, Morningside College which aimed to accommodate 300 students admitted its first cohort of students in 2010. As a fully residential college featuring communal dining, the Fellows, staff and students of Morningside College gather together three nights a week to share in warm fellowship. Throughout the year, regular dinners are intermixed with themed dinners such as Language Night where Cantonese, Mandarin, and English lessons are exchanged, or Dinner Talks where discussions are guided by guest speakers on specialized topics of interest. Past guest speakers include polar explorer Dr Rebecca Lee Lok Sze, former Commissioner of Police Mr Dick Lee Ming Kwai and the first chief executive of The Better Hong Kong Foundation Ms Leonie Ki Man-Fung.
