A scene at the "Big O"
A Quick Guide to O' Camps

To new students of CUHK, summer is the time to enter a new phase in life and learn the essentials of becoming a freshman of this University. Orientation camps (fondly referred to as "O' Camps") organized by their seniors are often one of the most memorable occasions that precede the start of their studies. How well do you know about the "O' Camps" there are on campus? Here is a quick guide.

"Big O" Vs "Small O"
Organized by the college student union, the College Orientation Camp (i.e. "Big O") allows freshmen to find out more about the College to which they are affiliated while the Faculty/departmental O' camp (i.e. "Small O") organized by the student society of the freshmen's own faculty/department enables participants to meet with their teachers, and know more about their programme.

Must-have Programmes
Mass dance and treasure hunt are very popular programmes to spice up the O' camps. The night snack session during which senior alumni are invited to join and share their experience and insights with the freshmen, is yet another highlight.

Cheering Time
New students from the 4 Colleges usually gather together and chant slogans for their own College at a specific time in the "Big O" as a way to express their pride to be a member of their College. To experience the uplifting spirit shared by the new students at the cheering time, please visit:
