The MBA Programme in Finance offered jointly by The Chinese University and Tsinghua University in Beijing has been ranked top 10 by the World Business Newswire in its annual ranking of 'The Most Influential Mainland China-Foreign (Including Hong Kong) Partnership MBAs'. It is the only programme involving a Hong Kong institution to make the list.

Prof. He Jia, professor of the CUHK Department of Finance and programme director of the MBA Programme in Finance, said that his department is pleased with the ranking results. 'Joint MBA programmes between mainland institutions and top overseas universities have been sprouting up in recent years. Despite a short history and a relatively narrow focus, our programme is ranked number nine. This indicates that we have managed to establish our own brand name and we are being recognized. I am grateful to all staff of the programme without whose efforts success would not have come our way. I hope that they will continue with the good work,' remarked Prof. He.

In this ranking, a programme is assessed only if the foreign partner is listed in the rankings of US-based Business Week or those of London-based Financial Times, and the domestic partner must be an MBA institution approved by the Ministry of Education of PRC.

Questionnaires were distributed to the CEOs of the top 500 mainland and international enterprises to collect their opinion on the programmes and their graduates. As their opinion constituted the most important component of the assessment, the ranking is believed to be a reflection of the overall standing and commercial value of MBA programmes in the eyes of employers in China.
