1. Welcome New and Returning Students

Welcome all new and returning students! In addition to visiting the ITSC website, you can stay informed about our news and service updates by reading this ITSC Digest.

Information for New Students
As a new student to CUHK, you may have many questions on mind. To make you get started with ease, we have prepared a quick starter guide for you. It helps to grasp you some ideas about the must-do and must-known items regarding ITSC resources and services.

  • Visit here for the quick guide for new students.

Information for Returning Students
Over the past few months, the ITSC has made several modifications on some of our services to get well prepared for the new academic year.

1. Implementation of SSID=CUHKa in Campus Wi-Fi Network
You are recommended to use SSID=CUHKa if your laptops can detect this signal (most of the other mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets could not detect SSID=CUHKa). Compared with SSID=CUHK, SSID=CUHKa is less congested, more stable and has fewer sources of interference, yet using SSID=CUHKa is as easy as using SSID=CUHK.

2. New ResNet Connection Method – Web Portal Login Replacing VPN Login
Effective from 7 Sep 2012, a new Web Portal login method will be used to replace the current VPN login for wired network connection in student hostels. You can simply open your favourite browser (such as IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari) and enter your CWEM password to access the Campus Network and start surfing the Internet.

3. Implementation of the New CU eLearning System (Blackboard Learn)
(a) Cease of WebCT service
With the implementation of the new CU eLearning System (Blackboard Learn), support given to current systems (WebCT, Moodle and CU Forum) is scheduled to cease at various stages.

No new course sites will be created on WebCT to support teaching under 2012-13 academic year. However, the system will still be accessible by staff and students in September 2012 to allow time for them to download any old materials they have on WebCT to their local computers if they wish to. More information about the arrangement of current systems can be found at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/eLearning/c_systems/elearn/implementation_s.html#currentsystems.

(b) Course sites arrangement for 2012-13

Under academic year 2012-13, if your course instructors decided to set up a course website to support teaching of the course, the course website can be on CU eLearning System or Moodle or CU Forum depending on the preference of your course instructors.  Visit this page to find out whether your course is supported by any one of these systems. At MyCUHK, you can also find links to your courses under "CUSIS and MyStudy" tab > "eLearning".  If you can't find your course(s), please check with your course instructor to confirm the system he/she is using before contacting the eLearning Team through ITSC Helpdesk for assistance.

You may find more information regarding eLearning system and tools via:
