Superman Returns?

The University's Congregation for the Conferment of Degrees is just around the corner. To add fun to this joyous occasion, "E" would like to share with you some interesting and most impressive graduation figures of CU.

The majority of our graduates obtained 1 and at most 2 degrees or postgraduate diplomas. Surprisingly, there are 5 CU alumni who have 5 graduation records at CU! They all have been awarded a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree. Some of them even received their Ph.D.. Though all of them have different backgrounds, what they share in common is a postgraduate diploma in education. Graduates of the postgraduate diploma in education must be particularly diligent!

Undergraduates of CU are probably all familiar with questions about College affiliation, as they all belong to one College or another. However, for a particular group of 20 alumni, this issue is quite a challenge because they are affiliated to more than one college as they enrolled in different undergraduate degree programmes. Among them, Chung Chi graduates form the largest group. In terms of college combinations, the two most dominant groups are "Chung Chi + United" and "Chung Chi + Shaw" alumni. Many chose Music as their second degree and one alumnus is proven to be a 100% "music lover" as he studied BA and MPhil in Music subsequent to his undergraduate studies in biology.

Here comes the most amazing and interesting piece of information: an alumnus received 2 Master's degrees in the year of 2004! Although he was approved by the Graduate Council for concurrent registration of 2 Master's degree programmes, it is unprecedented in CU history for a student to study both programmes simultaneously and be awarded 2 degrees in the same year. Believe it or not, the majors of his Master's degrees are a world apart: one is MA in Linguistics and the other is MPhil in Information Engineering. "E" believes that if he is not a quick learner, he should be a superman.

To welcome our graduates to the CU alumni community in the upcoming Congregation, "E" knows that AAO will set up promotional booths at the University Mall (Dec 7-9) and four Colleges (Dec 7). Graduates who return the completed alumni data form will get a free gift. Don't let this opportunity slip by you!
