Prof. Gordon Cheung, Associate Vice-President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) visited Taiwan from 3 to 6 June 2014. During the visit, Prof. Cheung met with senior members of Taiwan University (NTU) and Taiwan Cheng Kung University (NCKU). He also delivered talks for the 2014 Executive Conference on International and Cross-strait Affairs, and 2014 Round Table Meeting organized by the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education in Taiwan (FICHET).
On 3 June, Prof. Cheung visited NTU where he met with Prof. Chang Ching-Ray, Vice President of NTU to discuss on collaboration opportunities between the two universities, including program collaboration in China studies and student exchange on College basis.
The Conference and Round Table Meeting were held in NCKU from 4 to 5 June, which had the participation of university leaders and administrators in academic exchange from Mainland China, Taiwan and Macau, including Prof. Chen Haidong, Vice-President of University of Macau, Prof. Su Huey-Jen, Vice-President of Cheng Kung University and Dr. Xia Hongwei, Director of Office of International Relations of Peking University. Prof. Cheung gave presentations on the internationalization of higher education in Hong Kong and joint supervision of postgraduate student program in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. Discussions were held among the participants to exchange ideas and share experiences on the topics relating to a variety of challenges encountered in the process of internationalization.
The visit not only strengthened academic linkage, but also helped promote and expand a new level of collaboration between CUHK and its Taiwan partner universities.
