The Research Centre for Contemporary Chinese Culture collaborated with the Universities Service Centre for China Studies to conduct four documentary film shows and directors' seminars from January to March, including The Shoeshiner's Journey by LI Xiaofeng and JIA Kai, Hua Shan Cross by JIN Dixiang, Wang Shiwei: The Buried Writer by S. Louisa WEI and a documentary on HU Shizhi by GAO Xiaolong. These films covered the themes of people adopting the spirit of LEI Feng, the families of miners and the stories of two writers, WANG Shiwei and HU Shizhi. The Centre also hosted the showing of a documentary film on Chinese human rights lawyers, 709 Fellows. Director LO King Wa was joined by Ms KONG King Chu, the author of a book on Chinese human rights lawyers, to meet with the audience after the show.
