Two Professors awarded prestigious fellowships

Prof. LYU Rung Tsong Michael has been elected Fellow by The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) for his remarkable contribution to the theory and practice of software reliability engineering. This year, 42 are named ACM Fellows worldwide and Prof. LYU is the only one from Hong Kong.

Prof. HUANG Jianwei has been elected Fellow of the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2016 for his contribution to resource allocation in wireless systems. This year, 297 scholars were elected IEEE fellows worldwide, and 2% of them are under 40 years of age. At the age of 37, Prof. HUANG is the youngest among the three newly elected IEEE Fellows from Hong Kong this year.

Two Professors won IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award

Prof. MA Wing Kin Ken and Prof. SO Man Cho Anthony received the 2015 IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award, a prestigious award in the IEEE Signal Processing Society. The aforementioned paper is a widely recognised overview paper on semidefinite relaxation (SDR), a powerful optimisation technique that has numerous applications in signal processing, communications, and beyond. The paper reviews the topic from theory to practice. It has attracted much interest from various communities, as evidenced by its large number of citations.
