President of Xi'an Jiaotong University Visits CUHK
Prof. WANG Shuguo, President of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Prof. SHAN Wenhua and Prof. CHEN Teng, Associate Vice Presidents of XJTU, led a five-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 19 September 2016. The delegation met with senior members of CUHK including Prof. Joseph SUNG, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; Prof. FOK Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Prof. WONG Suk-ying, Associate Vice President.
Both sides discussed future collaboration plans under the University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR) and provided updates on the recent developments of collaborative efforts. After the meeting, the delegates visited Lee Woo Sing College and met with College Master, Prof. Joseph LAU, to understand the development of CUHK Colleges and established links. The visit facilitated linkages and enhanced ties between the two universities, enabling further and wider scopes of collaboration.
The UASR was established in May 2015 to promote the spirit of the Silk Road, with the aim of building a cooperative education platform to further regional development. The Alliance has now more than 120 member universities from 22 countries and regions. Prof. Benjamin WAH, Provost of CUHK, visited XJTU in April this year and signed the agreement on behalf of CUHK in joining the Alliance as member university.

Visit of the President of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology CAS
Prof. FAN Jianping, Director of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) led a nine-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 2 September. They met with Prof. Joseph SUNG, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Prof. Benjamin WAH, Provost, and gave a summary report on the 10th anniversary of SIAT.
Representatives of CUHK joining the meeting included Prof. WONG Ching-ping, Faculty Dean of Engineering; Prof. Sean TANG, Department Chairman of Information Engineering and Associate Director of SIAT; Prof. HENG Pheng-ann, Department Chairman of Computer Science and Engineering; Prof. QIN Ling, Department og Orthopaedics and Traumatology; Prof. DU Ruxu, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering; and Ms. Wing WONG, Director of Academic Links (China). Prof. FAN concluded the accomplishments of SIAT in the past ten years at the meeting. Representatives of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Integration Technology under SIAT also reported on specific work progress. Both sides took the opportunity to discuss future plans for deep collaboration and the challenges ahead.
SIAT was jointly established by CUHK, CAS and Shenzhen Municipal Government in February 2006, which aims to enhance the innovative capacity of the equipment manufacturing and service industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong region, and to promote the development of emerging industries, possessing their own proprietary intellectual property.

Provost of Zhejiang University Visits CUHK
Prof. SONG Yonghua, Provost of Zhejiang University, led a four-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on September 28. The delegates met with Prof. Fanny CHEUNG, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and discussed with her potential collaboration opportunities in specific research area and academic exchange. The delegates next paid visit to Lee Woo Sing College, where they learnt about the College's operation and management systems from Prof. Stanley HUI, the College's Dean of Students.
