You will be in for a pleasant surprise on your next visit to the University Swimming Pool which has recently undergone major enhancements.

First operated in 1973, the University pool was 50m by 18m in length and width. To enhance the potential of the pool for teaching and general use by the CUHK community, major changes made in the recent renovation include taking out the diving platform. Shallow areas of 1.35m have been built at the two sides of the pool according to the safety design and standard requirement of the swimming pool license, so that the beginners could be allowed to practice with ease.

Other enhancements include replacing mosaic tiles with more durable ceramic ones for the walls and bottom of the pool; the use of non-slippery hardwood flooring for the passage leading to the pool, and putting up of a glass screen in front of the spectator stand to enhance safety.
