Engineering Researchers Receive Awards from the Chinese Association of Automation

Professor HUANG Jie, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, was honoured with the CAA Excellent PhD Thesis Supervisor Award and Dr. LIU Wei of the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering with the CAA Excellent PhD Thesis Award.  The CAA is one of the first and top national associations in China. 

The CAA Excellent PhD Thesis Award aims to promote innovative research and development in automation in China by recognising PhD students in the field.  The CAA Excellent PhD Thesis Supervisor Award is to acknowledge thesis supervisors who have made significant contributions to enlighten young scholars. 

A total of 10 excellent PhD theses were selected out of 500 in the field of automation in 2018.  Professor Huang and Dr. Liu are the only award recipients from Hong Kong.  Their award-winning thesis is titled 'Cooperative Output Regulation of Networked Multi-Agent Systems with Switching Topology'.
