The Development Bureau and the Planning Department of the HKSAR Government have invited input from people in Hong Kong through a public consultation until April 30 about their comprehensive strategic study to update the territorial development strategy and provide a spatial planning framework to guide the future planning, land and infrastructure development and the shaping of the built environment of Hong Kong beyond 2030.

Student working groups will focus on themes such as: green and blue space in HK; community farming and agriculture; adapting the city to an ageing population; climate change mitigation and how HK will meet its COP 22 targets for carbon reduction; transport infrastructure projects; land use; realizing the potential of smart city initiatives; the plan for the East Lantau metropolis; the plan for New Territories North; energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables; waste-to-energy programmes; nature conservation and biodiversity; inter-model transport; and HK's plan for greater connectedness with Shenzhen and the greater Pearl River Delta. Reports generated by working teams will be compiled into a submission to the Planning Department reflecting the voice of our students about the future of their city.
