Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme 2016/17

The Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme 2016/17 is now open for enrolment. Young people selected for this programme will receive training this summer and become Young Ambassadors to volunteer for a hospitable Hong Kong!

The details are as follows:
 
Training Programme (training period: 18 July - 29 August 2016)

It includes talks, workshops, sharing sessions, visits to organizations and attractions as well as a "Young Service Stars" Competition. After satisfactory completion of the training, participants will be officially appointed as Hong Kong Young Ambassadors.

Service Programme (term of service: 1 September 2016 – 31 July 2017)

Appointed Young Ambassadors will help promote a hospitable Hong Kong, and foster the spirit of service excellence and appreciation during the coming school year.

Eligibility

  1. Aged 15 or above on 18 July 2016
  2. Full-time Hong Kong students who are studying at a local secondary school/ tertiary institution OR going to study/ studying at a high school/ tertiary institution outside Hong Kong
  3. Able to communicate confidently in Cantonese, English and Putonghua
  4. Committed to serving the community

Application Procedure

Details of this programme and application form can be downloaded at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/osa/sacs. One set of the following printed documents should be submitted to the Student Services Centre on 1/F, Benjamin Franklin Centre by 5:45pm on 3 June 2016 (Friday):

  1. A duly completed application form (Part F should be left blank)
  2. A copy of CUHK Student ID Card
  3. A copy of university academic transcripts
  4. A copy of Report of Experiential Learning Activities (ELA Report) of Student Development Portfolio (SDP)
  5. Documentary proof/ certificate copies of voluntary/ community/ in-school service in the past 5 years in chronological order (if applicable)
  6. Documentary proof/ certificate copies of skills and interests in chronological order (if applicable)
  7. An English essay of no less than 200 words on "How would you break the ice with and show your friendliness to visitors whom you greet?"

Selection Procedure

  1. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed on 25, 26 June, 3, 5 or 11 July 2016. 
  2. Applicants will be informed of the result by email.

Fee

Selected applicants have to pay a nominal fee of HK$150 to the organizer upon confirmation.
