With the aim of enhancing understanding between executives from different universities in Mainland China and acquiring knowledge about various aspects of higher education sector in Hong Kong, the 1st Summer Institute for Mainland Higher Education Executives was held from 5 to 11 August 2013.
Thirty-eight executives from 10 Mainland universities participated in the program, including Nanjing University, Nankai University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jaiotong University, Shantou University, Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University, Xian Jiaotong University and Zhejiang University. Senior members of CUHK including Prof. Hau Kit-tai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Gordon Cheung, Associate-Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK welcomed the participants.
The program consisted of a series of lectures and visits through which participants obtained a better understanding of academic exchange, human resources, teaching evaluation, academic and quality, student affairs management, public relations and communications, alumni affairs, fund-raising in higher education institutions in Hong Kong. The executives also acquired knowledge on CUHK's unique college system and education development in Hong Kong.
The programme provided a valuable opportunity for the participating executives to strengthen interaction with CUHK and pave the way for further collaboration.
