Smart Campus Solutions Competition 2020–21—Seed Funding in Round One

The Smart Campus Solutions Competition 2020–21, organised by the Task Force on Smart CUHK Campus, is the first University-wide and College-based competition on student-led smart projects at CUHK. It encourages and assists all full-time undergraduate students to create and undertake innovative solutions that contribute to a smart, green and sustainable campus.

Two College students, Mr Alok Kumar MANAV (Year 3, Systems Engineering and Engineering Management) and Mr Suryansh MANAV (Year 1, Engineering) formed a team, Suryalok, to enter the competition. After the preliminary assessment, the team has been shortlisted for prototype development of their project, SNS ActUps. It is an online platform that provides structured resources for students to learn, polish, showcase and apply their skills in their personal or professional life, featuring smart AI technology, content from creators around the world, private tutoring on skill building from knowledgeable individuals, reviews and advice on users' performance from experienced professionals, and weekly contests for specific skill areas. The platform will be launched in the form of a website and a mobile application.

Suryalok will receive seed funding capped at HK$50,000 to produce a prototype on a larger scale and scope within five months. The shortlisted teams will then go through the final assessment. The winning teams will be awarded funding for project development for up to 12 months.
