Xuanhuitang Lecture Series, Art Museum
The lecture series on the art of Ren Bonian, generously supported by Xuanhuitang, is scheduled from March to August this year. The impressive speaker list consists of top scholars from The National Art Museum of China, The Palace Museum in Beijing and Taipei, Academia Sinica, University of Edinburgh, and Department of Fine Arts, CUHK. The first lecture, titled "The Art of Ren Bonian from a Sculptor's Perspective", was delivered by Prof. Wu Weishan, Director of National Art Museum of China and world-acclaimed contemporary Chinese sculptor, on 20 March (Wednesday) at L1, Institute of Chinese Studies, attracting an audience of 87.

The Fifth Inter-Regional Forum on Dialectal Grammar, T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre
The Inter-Regional Forum on Chinese Dialectal Grammar (IRF) was initiated by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Sun Yat-sen University in 2015 and extended its partnership with Fudan University in 2017, which has become an academic event organized rotationally by these three institutions as a platform intended to foster research on dialectal grammar under a comparative approach, focusing on southeastern Chinese dialects like the Yue and Wu dialects, to promote inter-regional studies and to strengthen intellectual exchange and dialogue among researchers from different regions.

The Third Chen Kai Wen Lecture on Modern Chinese History, Research Centre for Contemporary Chinese Culture
Prof. Hans van de Ven from the Cambridge University came to CUHK in January 2019 to deliver two public lectures in English, The Ichigo Offensive of 1944 and Beyond the Battlefield in Second World War China: Wartime Everydayness. Prof. Hans van de Ven's research focuses on the history of China during the late Qing and Republican periods, with special attention to globalization, revolution, and war.

Documentary Screening, Research Centre for Contemporary Chinese Culture and Universities Service Centre for China Studies
USC has been co-organizing the documentary screening series "Reminiscence" with the Research Centre for Contemporary Chinese Culture since January 2016. The documentary "廣場上的舞蹈" will be screened on April 12, and Director Kang Shi Wei will have a dialogue with audience afterwards.

Luncheon seminar, Universities Service Centre for China Studies
The Universities Service Centre for China Studies (USC) will organize 3 luncheon seminars, namely "村落傳統:鄉村振興的文化根基" which will be delivered by Professor Sun Qing Zhong from China Agricultural University on April 10, "Becoming Activists in Global China: Social Movements in the Chinese Diaspora" which will be delivered by Dr. Andrew Junker from The Chinese University of Hong Kong on April 11, and "The Function of Expert Involvement in China's Local Policy Making" which will be delivered by Professor Ieong Meng U from University of Macau on April 17.
