With the purpose of equipping potential local professionals with knowledge of Positive Psychology to assist the promotion and development of Positive Education in Hong Kong, the Scholarship will provide financial support to suitable applicants to study Master's degree in Applied Positive Psychology ("MAPP") at The University of Pennsylvania ("UPenn") in the United States. Conditions of Eligibility
All applicants who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- applicants must be permanent residents of Hong Kong;
- applicants must have their first degrees in education, psychology, or social sciences and/which have a foundation in the knowledge of Positive Psychology. Their degrees can be obtained in Hong Kong or from overseas institutions;
- applicants must have at least two years of working experiences in local education sector;
- applicants should have strong English language proficiency;
- applicants should apply via normal routes to the University, fulfill all application procedures and admission requirements at the University, and be accepted for admission into the MAPP.
Application and Selection Procedures
- Applicants have to indicate their intention to apply for the Scholarship when they submit their application to the MAPP. The application deadline of the MAPP is 1 March 2017.
- Qualified candidates will then be invited to attend an interview in Hong Kong in April/May 2017.
Number of Scholarships
- One Scholarship will be awarded each year. If there are no appropriate candidates, no Scholarships will be given that year.
- Amount of the Scholarship: The Scholarship will basically cover the Scholar's tuition and fees at the University for the normative study period of the MAPP.
Conditions of the Scholarship
- All Scholars must return to Hong Kong after they graduate;
- All Scholars will be required to contribute to the Foundation's projects relating to Positive Education for at least two years on a part time basis after their return to Hong Kong. The nature of their contribution may include providing consultation to local schools, conducting sharing sessions, engaging in teacher training, delivering seminars and talks, etc. The terms and format of their contribution will be based on the nature of Scholar's studies and the latest development of the Foundation's projects. - Tenure of other awards in conjunction with this Scholarship is not permitted without the consent of the Foundation.
