CUHK Delegation to Visit Beijing Genomics Institute, Shenzhen

Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), led a thirteen-member delegation on 25 February 2011 to visit Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), with a view to strengthening academic collaboration. The CUHK delegation comprised of representatives from Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Engineering.

The CUHK delegates met with Prof. Wang Jian, Director of BGI and scientists of BGI research teams. During the visit, the delegates gave presentations on potential collaborative research projects and the two parties reviewed the existing collaborations and explored new opportunities.

Since the collaboration agreement in establishing "The CUHK-BGI Genome Research Centre" signed in 2009, CUHK and BGI have carried out various projects together such as research collaboration and joint supervision of postgraduate students. The visit further strengthened the unity and paved the way for further cooperation.
