Overseas alumni warmly welcome the exchange students to join their activities
Warm Reception from Overseas Alumni Community to Exchange Students
Over 300 CU students joined the student exchange programmes abroad this year. The Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) has invited our overseas alumni associations (AAs) as well as alumni from areas without AAs to render help to outgoing students in July. We have since received many enthusiastic responses from alumni and heartfelt appreciation from the students for the very warm reception of our overseas alumni community. Emails arrive at the AAO every day. Below are some of the many warm touching messages received.

From overseas alumni associations

 "First of all, let me extend to you a warm welcome.  I give you the answers …… to the best of my ability and knowledge …… and as soon as I possibly can." (Paul Lee, Northern California AA)

"Now, as you are about to arrive in Southern California, you should be aware that we have the same great weather every day. …… the only excitement, from the perspective of a CUHK alumni perspective, is our annual banquet on Sept 23. It is a place to meet people." (Poon Yat Sun, Southern California AA)

"We'll try to give the students the psychological support and any direct or indirect material assistance that we can manage." ( Sam Lee, Hawaii AA)

"We are so happy for them to come to study and experience the living in the US Midwest. Please be rest assure that we will include them in our gatherings. Please relay our sincere welcome to them. ……we'll do our best to help them." (Allan Liu, US Midwest AA)

"Please feel free to release my email to the exchange students for information and support ……I have arranged my daughter, who also goes to York, to get in touch with the student and they have talked already." (Franklin Cheung, Ontario AA)

"We look forward to working with you closely as we have always been over the past years. …… We shall give them the hospitality expected from us." (Albert Wong, Sydney AA)

"We love to receive the student. We have be-friended the 5 students here in Melbourne on Overseas Internship Program." (Doris Leung, Victoria AA)

"Again, please assure all exchange students coming to France that we're at their disposal should they feel any need." (Man Fai Leung, France AA)

"I've already contacted them by email and helped some of them to settle their problem in SG, everything is running smooth." (Ryan Wong, Singapore AA)

"The alumni in Taipei would like to meet all exchange students from CU. Please ask them to contact you in case they want some consultation from us." (Chak Kin Fu, Taiwan AA)

"My wife Claire and I would be more than happy to meet the CUHK exchange students coming to North Carolina. …… We will coordinate with Professor Leung Yu-Fai couple to have a welcome gathering with the exchange students just like the past couple years." (William Lam, North Carolina)

"I am very pleased to get your invitation for helping CU students …….I have talked to the nephew of my wife about this, and he is also willing to give them assistance …… It is my honor and pleasure to help my Alma Mater in any way."  (Peter Wong, Spain)

"Welcome to Holland, the nice small country who always thinks big ……. I have drafted a little something about living in Holland. Hope that this will help you settle down faster ……Although it is still 1.5 month to go for the mid-autumn festival, I am trying to investigate if there is a possibility that we can meet and celebrate. …… You are of course welcome to come to my house in Veldhoven ……and you can arrange some programs." "I've just started my maternity leave this month and we are expecting another baby by the end of this month. …… I am very happy to do so. I was an exchange student at Georgetown University in Washington DC during my 3rd year, and I can feel your excitement of studying and living abroad. You can reach me by my personal e-mail."
